Motivational Monday: Everyday.
(Originally posted on July 1, 2019)

Recently I saw an ad for a phone app that allows you to take a photo everyday and then put it together like a story. They showed a mother snapping photos of her baby everyday, and then at the end of the year combining it into a 365 second video. It was really amazing to see how the baby had changed—almost daily. It's something we normally do not pay attention to.
That got me thinking
. I have a puppy and everyone keeps telling me how big she grew, but I can't see it. It's because I'm there everyday and it's part of my everyday world... but what else am I missing?
So I decided to try a similar experiment. Every morning, about the same time, I take the puppy for a walk and every morning I'm struck by the beauty of the sky. So I decided to try and take a photo in (approximately) the same place and at the same time every morning. What I saw was something amazing:
the same spot, at just about the same time every morning, was a different picture.
The world I live in looked different everyday!
But again, just like I don't see my puppy growing up each day, I don't always see the subtle changes in my world. Even though every day was different—some days it was raining, or chilly, or hot and humid—it was still strikingly beautiful. It made me realize that, no matter what is happ ening, that every day can be beautiful if I just choose to see it that way.
What are you missing in your world?
Can you see the subtle changes in your children, your pets, your spouse? Can you see those subtle changes in yourself? Are those changes the direction you want to be heading in?
What subtle shift can you make that would allow you to see the world differently, and to see everything as having purpose and beauty?
Try the experiment for yourself. Find something or someone to photograph everyday for a brief period of time, then put it together and see what you notice. Here's a link to a very quick clip of what I took.
(I'm not the best photographer, so mine aren't absolutely perfect, but you'll get the point.) Maybe we'll find a positive use for those phones we're tethered to after all, haha! 🤣
What this taught me was to see the beauty in each and every day.
Even though I might initially think: "Ugh it's raining again," I can still take a moment to realize that the sky is still rather gorgeous, the walk was enjoyable, and the moment is memorable!
So enjoy each day—notice the subtle changes and be happy for them. The little things are what make the canvas of our world so unique and amazing!
Have a week in which every day gets better and better!
