Laughing, chuckling, chortling, guffawing, giggling, tittering, twittering,
cackling, sniggering, informal hysterics...
All of us, for sure, remember moments where we laughed so hard our stomach's hurt! Or we just couldn't stop laughing, maybe for no reason, we just laughed! Didn't that feel great? Laughter truly is the best medicine. Laughter actually produces endorphins in our brain that make us feel immediately better and relieved. Remembering again those good long laughs...you probably felt amazing afterwards. Laughter truly is a great way to create and share feeling of pleasure with others
.
Tickling someone is one of the easiest ways to produce laughter. It's been studied that tickling helps with bonding of a mother a new born. ( Dr. Sophie Scott, The Science of Laughter
)
This same research shows that people laugh in all kinds of situations. We laugh because others laugh, even if we don't know why. This shows us that there is a behavioral and emotional component to laughing. This is probably du to us having empathy for others.
Studies have shown that our brains actually " get ready to laugh
" when we hear laughter. This really suggests that laughter is meant to be shared between individuals.
So here are 7 really great reasons why you need to start laughing
more.
1) Laughter triggers the expansion of the tissue that forms the inner lining of blood vessels, thereby, increasing blood flow. “ It is said
that laughing may be important to maintain a healthy endothelium, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease,” says principal investigator Michael Miller.
2) Laughter triggers the brain's emotional reward centers, contributing to a healthier emotional state.
3) It plays an important role in social bonding.
4) Want to be more attractive? Studies have shown that men with a good sense of humor are thought to be more attractive, likewise, men are more attracted to women that laugh at their jokes. It has also been argued that having a good sense of humor in a job interview could increase your chances of getting hired.
5) It lowers stress and anxiety.
6) It strengthens your immune systems.
7) Laughter is the fastest and easiest method of regulating breathing. It can lead to an increase in heart rate, respiratory rate and oxygen consumption. When you enthusiastically laugh for a longer period of time, the lungs are filled with fresh oxygen-rich air. This allows you to breathe deeper and improve your respiratory health.
SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR.......LAUGH!
