Motivational Monday: "Oh the thinks you can think"
(Originally posted on March 11, 2019)

This week I've heard the words " don't over think it
" more times than I can count. How can you possibly over think something?
Well...that's easy, it's like the idiom says "you're beating a dead horse".
So it's decision time. Something comes into your life that you need to make a decision on. When you first hear about this opportunity, you're excited. Everything seems right with the world. How great is it that this opportunity has fallen into your world! You're on a high!
And then...
You tell someone about your plans...and they scoff, and come up with a ton of " what if
' this happens, " what if
" that happens, and all of a sudden you're over thinking the problem!
Now you're worried about those " what ifs
" that they brought up...plus about a hundred more things that you've thought up on your own! Sound familiar??????
How many times in your life have you done this
? I'd bet that for all those times, there have been those times when you didn't " over
" think something, but instead listened to your gut and just acted. I know that for me personally, the times I've listened to my inner voice...and not the thoughts in my head...things have turned out great! Typically, when I've over-thought, over-reasoned, and often times listened to "logic" it didn't turn out so well.
The problem with over thinking is that we often take a simple situation and turn it into a major ordeal. This can actually prevent us from moving forward in our lives, causing us to be stuck in the same place, never having experienced anything. Does that mean we shouldn't take some time "considering" major life choices...of course we should. What I'm referring to is when we work the situation out from every possible aspect, and then prevent ourselves from making any decision at all. Any situation, no matter how long you stew on it, can have the potential to turn out good...or bad! Every choice will always, 100% of the time, have a positive and a negative. The thing is, it's all in how you look at it. Maybe that "negative" isn't really negative at all, it's just one way you could have gone. Maybe you'll learn something that you couldn't have learned any other way. There is no " positive
" or "negative"
there just " IS
"! Your perception will decide which it is.
So what are you over thinking? How about listening to your inner knowing and go for it! See where it takes you and what experience it will grant you!
Life is about the experience...let's go for it!
“Be decisive. Right or wrong, make a decision. The road
of life is paved with flat squirrels who couldn’t make a decision.”
