Motivational Monday: Where do YOU live?
(Originally posted on March 25, 2019)

For me, every year begins with some time when I reflect on the past. During the next several months I find myself residing there: in the past, and in a time that I wish I could change.
This morning as I was scrolling through my Facebook page, I came across an article from Danielle Mackinnon. She's an animal communicator who has some really interesting things to tell us about our animal companions. The article she shared was titled: "
5 Quick Tips to help you communicate with your animal better"
. Those of us that love our animals also believe that our animals love and understand everything we're saying to them. So of course I just had to click on that link!
One of these tips really hit home on many levels:
"#4: Animals don't live in the past and neither should you.
"Many animal lovers are also great rescuers. They take in cats, birds, cows and more that have been abused or neglected. Animals have shown me again and again that their desire is to heal and move forward from their troublesome past - but humans tend to hold on. To have the best connection with your rescued/abused/neglected pet, it's actually best to let the past be the past. Stop telling your friends "he's a rescue" and talking about "the story of his past". If you find yourself referring to your dog's past simply correct yourself and move into the now, Right NOW he has food, Right NOW he gets two great walks a day. Right NOW, he loves snuggling. It's that easy to create this stronger connection. Living in the present moment is what allows animals to have such successful rescues and rehabilitation. Animals just want to get on with life, and if you follow their lead, the two of you can be happy, living in the present together."
So where are you living?
Are you living in the shadow of your past; the successes and/or the failures?
Are there really successes or failures?
Does it really matter what the past was as long as you learned from it, accepted the lesson, and expanded who you are?
I quoted the book "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein
before. It's such a profound story, with such a different perspective on how to see life. The most important lesson of that story is to live NOW. This moment right here—not yesterday and not tomorrow. All that matters is NOW!
So this week expand your awareness of NOW
! Enjoy the moment!
