The Power Of A Word!
December 6th, 2021

Words!
They can create --- or they can destroy
!
Did you ever say something and the moment it was out of your mouth you regretted it?
I suspect there is no one on the face of the planet that would say that it hasn't happened to them. Usually followed by immediate regret --- and a replaying of the incident over and over again in our mind.
We can apologize. We usually do. We mean it.
The word wasn’t designed to hurt someone, it just came out that way. We’re a society of text messages now, and that’s often a place where misunderstanding can happen. Something is written to sound one way but it comes off to the reader as another.
Words can do that too.
Words --- we speak them, we think them. Do you think your mind is silent? Try sitting and listening to it for a moment. Close your eyes and try to silence your thoughts.
Harder than you think, huh????
Yes, our subconscious mind is processing thoughts --- repeatedly
--- at a dizzying rate of 60,000 to 80,000 times a day. Holy cow that’s a lot!
So now someone says something that hurts you. It’s hard to let it go because we’re sad and we’re hurt. We replay that word over and over and over again --- 60,000 - 80,000 times ( or more maybe)
a day! And the next day! And the next day! Until something in us finally releases the need to replay the event.
During the course of that time, what has happened to us and our physical bodies? What toll has the power of that word taken on our health and our well being?
There are scientific studies being conducted that show a proven word-brain relationship. If you’re interested in reading more about this, read “ Words can Change your Brain
” by Dr. Andrew Newberg. He has concluded that “ a single word has the power to influence the expression of genes that regulate physical and emotional stress.
”
So what are those thousands of thoughts per day telling your body? Are they increasing your stress level or helping to regulate it?
Are they healing your body or are they keeping your body in a state of
dis-ease
?
Are you unconsciously creating problems with your thoughts?
Yehuda Berg, a 21st century Jewish Rabbi said this about the power of words: “Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively use words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate and to humble.”
The power of a word!
Think of the power we can yield for ourselves, and for others if we choose our words more consciously. If we choose to uplift rather than destroy! If we choose to empower rather than disempower. Consider this possibility for "both" words; words that are spoken, and words that are thought.
This week pay attention to those many-many
thoughts running through your brain. Pay attention to the words. Remember they have power. Make a very conscious effort to choose words that will empower both yourself and others.
You can change anything at any time --- it’s all within your power
.
It’s all in the words you choose to use!
Have an empowering week!
