You Are Enough
October 3rd, 2022

I would rather not admit this, but I often struggle with the feeling of not being enough.
Haven’t all of us felt this at one time or another?
I would venture to bet that even if you do not voice it, you feel this at times. “ I am not enough”
is a hard sentence to say --- it’s a hard truth to admit.
So be honest --- do you feel, at times, as if you are not enough?
Years back Audi made a TV commercial about a cheetah that refused to race with greyhounds. They showed the cheetah not budging to race when they opened the gates. The campaign was “Sometimes trying to prove that you are the best is an insult. We do not need to go down to the level of others, to show our strength. Think carefully and save your energy for what you deserve. The cheetah uses its speed only to hunt, not to prove to the dogs that it is the fastest and strongest.”
Great marketing campaign for a car --- even better as a motto for life in general.
How many times a day are we trying to prove ourselves? How many times are we so focused on the mistakes we have made in the past that we are unable to see the good we have accomplished? How many times do we waste our precious energy trying to prove something?
I’ve made a ton of mistakes in my life. A ton!
What about you?
Are you beating yourself up because you stayed in the wrong relationship or job too long? Why? Now you know for sure what you do not
want!
Do you feel as if you have not achieved certain goals in your career? Do you feel the need to push and work even harder to achieve those goals? Why? What are you killing yourself for? What are you trying to prove and who are you trying to prove it to?
If you never chose the wrong direction, or never missed a goal you set for yourself --- how would you ever learn what you truly want and what is right for you? Every “mistake” means you will learn more easily the next time around --- and you will, hopefully, make a better choice.
My mind loves to trick me into believing that I need to beat myself up for every imperfection. It loves to make me believe that I am not good enough. Does yours do that?
Years of working on improving myself have made me aware of the fact that this just isn't true. We are always good enough, exactly like we are and exactly where we are.
Self-criticism deflates our spirits and defeats us every single time. It will never truly motivate us like we seem to think it will.
If any type of relationship is making us feel as if we are less than adequate we should make a clear and concise choice to remove that from our life experience. Don't bother wasting your time proving your worth to someone. It is not worth your time or your precious energy.
We are all totally enough, and we are in the exact perfect place at this precise moment We are truly " perfectly imperfect"
!
We were not born to be perfect or to live a perfect life. We were born to grow as humans and expand our capacity for love.
So when you feel empty and unloved, remember you are enough --- exactly like you are, exactly where you are and you deserve to be honored for the human you are becoming.
This week --- be a cheetah and do not waste your energy trying to prove yourself to anyone --- you are enough!
“When you no longer care what other people think of you, you have reached freedom. Life truly begins the moment you realize you don't have to prove anything to anyone but yourself.”
