How's Your Life?
September 5, 2022

A good friend of mine, when asked how he was doing, would always say “ lovin' life
”. He was 85 when he left this life and this was one of his amazing mantras. The last several years of his life were a struggle. Illness had crept in and he lost the ability to do the things he loved the most. However, when asked, "he was lovin' life”. He had nothing special that would make you look at him and think “ wow that guy led the life.”
He was a simple man with a great big giant heart who truly “loved life”.
For some reason, I was thinking about him this past week, as I was busy complaining about “where my life was at”.
I kept hearing the words “ but what is right in your life
"?
You know what --- the "rights" far exceed the "wrongs".
BUT --- I was choosing to place my focus on everything that was wrong.
Why do we choose to focus our attention on the negatives in our life?
There was a study performed where participants were shown pictures that were “ positive, negative and neutral
”. The electrical activity in their brains was being monitored while they viewed the photos. The negative images produced a much stronger response in the cerebral cortex than either of the other images did. This area of the brain is responsible for functions including memory, deliberate action, language, critical thinking, attention, perception, awareness, and overall consciousness.
The results indicated that your body has a different physical reaction to negative and positive stimuli.
In primitive times this served us well. Those who saw and perceived danger quickly were more likely to survive.
Could the same be said for today?
Maybe in some instances ---- but not necessarily to the degree we take it. We focus on so much negativity we tend not to see the positive. That same negativity causes anxiety and depression and weakens our physical bodies.
Today was a great example for me
--- and a great chance for me to practice this “positive thought process thinking”.
From the moment I got up, everything seemed to go wrong. I was so focused on all that was going wrong, that ---- more went wrong. The situation kept compounding. At some point, though, I remembered my friend and his ever-positive outlook on life. I realized what I was doing to myself and halted that critical thinking part of the brain and went back to looking at all the good things life had to offer me. Which, by the way, were many ---- way more than what was going “wrong”.
The things that show up in our lives are always going to be what we are focusing our attention on. If we choose to see only the negative --- we will get negative. If we choose to see the positive ---- we will get more positive.
And….I’ve said this many times before….maybe what appeared to be negative will turn out to have been positive somewhere down the road.
Negative is a vibration. Positive is a vibration.
Like attracts like.
If your vibration is negative (meaning, negative thoughts, feelings, and emotions) you will attract more of the same. If you are a positive person, focusing more on the joy, love, and happiness in life --- the more of that you will attract.
If you want to improve your life, you need to improve the way you view life. We are all human and will have those moments where we sink into the negativity or defeat. We need to see what we are doing and stop that thought process. Where we focus is what will manifest.
To do this, don’t respond to negative people or events. Choose to view these as opportunities for you to grow as a soul and to respond in a positive way. Reacting to the negativity with anger, will create more negativity and more anger. You cannot change others --- the only person you can change is you.
Remember you have the power to avoid places and people that cause you to have negative emotions.
YOU HAVE THAT POWER
. No conversation necessary. If there is a situation that is causing you negative emotions STOP GIVING IT YOUR LIFE FORCE
. The power is always within you. If you choose not to utilize your power than the negative that is occurring in your life is your choice
because you supplied it with the life force that fed it.
I am not suggesting, by any means, that we wear rose-colored glasses and assume the world is the land of milk and honey ---- what I am suggesting is that we do not allow everyday events to destroy our moments and rob us of our joy. The reality of it is we do not know in this moment, what the next moment will bring.
Maybe our higher power has us exactly where we need to be for a reason completely unknown to us.
Trust! Have Faith and continue always to live in a state of love, faith and trust.
You have the power --- we have the power! Be bold, be strong!
“You have the power over your mind, not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength.”
