Motivational Monday: Let there be...fear?
(Posted on February 1, 2021)

They are super pretty in a book --- or thru the window! I even appreciate that robins are typically thought of as signs from heaven; bluebirds omens of good things to come; and hummingbirds symbols of love.
Wild Birds Unlimited --- I love that store! I love birdhouses of all types, and have several hanging around my yard. AS LONG AS THOSE PESKY THINGS DO NOT COME ANYWHERE NEAR ME ---- OR FLY INTO MY HOUSE --- we're cool! We can co-exist and I can even admire their presence in my world.
Why am I afraid? Honestly I have no idea, but if one of them gets too close to me I almost have a panic attack. It's crazy --- I'll admit it. Maybe I watched "The Birds" to many times --- who knows. 🤷♀️ Regardless, the fear is there . It is embedded and no matter how many birdhouses I put outside it's not going anywhere soon.
And you know what --- that's OK! Why ? Because truly this doesn't affect my life. I can enjoy the creatures ( yes I did say creatures ) from behind a window. The beauty is not lost on me.
But if I had an irrational fear over something that was affecting my daily life, or my ability to live a full and rewarding life, then that's something I would need to look at. Fear motivates! However, in most cases, it's not motivating in a productive way. Fear can immobilize us. It can prevent us from leaving our homes, or driving a vehicle or doing anything that might "risk" our life. For some, fear of being hurt, or feeling pain of any kind prevents them from giving their love to others.
Fear is an emotion that is very two sided. Fear, is something that can actually save us from harm (i n certain cases ), but then in other cases it can paralyze us so much so that we don't fully live life.
Fear is also a motivator! While I was growing up, fear was used as a punishment. "If you get in trouble in school --- just wait until you get home." It was effective. But fear has also been used in the past as a way to control the masses, and very frankly, it's still being used today.
Society has always used fear as a tool to make us do what they want. FEAR
! In Nazi Germany they created a fear state which made everyone fall into line and do what the government wanted them to do. And, they did --- because they were afraid
. Once you feel fear --- you will do whatever is necessary to avoid that which terrifies you. There is no chance there will ever be a pet bird in my house --- NO MATTER
how many times someone tells me what a great pet they are.
Are you living in fear? Are you afraid of losing someone you love? Are you afraid of the heartbreak that will follow? Are you afraid of getting sick? Are you afraid of failure? What fear is it that is blocking you from moving forward in your life? Face that fear!
If it's a legitimate one, acknowledge it, but find a way to move past it so that it does not keep you stuck within it!
We're only here in this life for a short time, and none of us is getting out alive. DON'T ALLOW FEAR TO CONTROL YOU or rob you of any of those special moments ! Get out there and make the most out of every single moment of this magical, magnificent, beautiful, terrifying, messy life!
