Motivational Monday: Think for yourself!
(Originally posted on April 20, 2020)

Another week of quarantine
. How's it going? How are you holding up?
If you're paying attention to the news, things seems really bleak out there. It doesn't seem like we're going to get out of this easily, unless someone comes along with a miracle to stop all this madness.
That's the message you take if you listen to the media all the time.
If you listen to alternative sources of media, you'll hear all kinds of other things; from conspiracy theories, the end of the world, and even aliens ( my personal favorite— I do have my tin foil hat ready
).
So here is what I see:
there could be some speck of truth in everything we hear. Did you ever notice that two people see a situation differently? It's called perception. Say that two children are having an argument over a toy; when they tell you the story, each will see only their perception— their viewpoint. Neither are lying, it was just seen from another point of view.
Law enforcement has long recognized this, which is why they will interview everyone at the scene of an accident. They'll often get varying points of view on the same accident scene.
Why? Who knows really. However, it is known that beliefs and experiences play into our perceptions of things.
When it comes to a situation like we're in now, it is VERY
crucial that we do not just listen to one source of information and think we have all we need to know. We can't. We are seeing only one side of the story, and it will always be biased based on the person telling the story
. We need to seek out other sources of news, and we should not forget to look at history. Often times, historical events can shed light on things that are happening now— maybe even shed some light on what we can do, or not do, in these moments.
This time of our life is bigger than the pandemic—make no mistake about that
. We all need to be informed, totally and completely. Our lives, the lives of our children, and the lives of future generations depend on us to take the time to make informed decisions.
We, as a collective group, are bigger than this virus
. We are big and powerful enough to conquer anything
. We do that by focusing on knowledge, love, and compassion
. We must not allow anyone to force us into a decision based on fear. Our decisions should be based on knowledge.
Stay strong! Stay bonded! Don't let fear rule you. The antidote to fear is love!
Knowledge is power! We're coming out of this much stronger than we went into it!
This week, look for the good in what you see and hear. Pay attention to how what you're hearing sits with you, and what resonates with you.
Therein lies your answer.
STAY STRONG THIS WEEK! ACT IN LOVE!
“I am convinced that knowledge is power - to overcome the past, to change our own situations, to fight new obstacles, to make better decisions.”
