Motivational Monday: What if?
(Originally posted on June 17, 2019)

WHAT IF…
What if you somehow received the knowledge that Friday at 5 pm would be your last moment on this earth?
WHAT IF???
Well Richard Paul Evans’ book A Perfect Day
is about just that. You might know of this author as he also wrote The Shack
— definitely one of my all time favorite books. In this story, the main character discovers he only has until New Years Day to live. In that time, he attempts to right wrongs and show the people he loves that he does indeed love them.
What’s interesting is seeing how he lost that feeling that life should be cherished; how time and circumstances changed his perspective on what’s important and what is not important.
I think that happens to all of us to one degree or another. We love our spouses, our children, our parents, and our grandparents. They are everything to us,
and we know that if we were to lose them our worlds would be shattered. But we get busy. We’re pursuing careers—and they take time. Life gets in the way.
There’s work to be done and hey…there’s always tomorrow…right?
Well what if there wasn’t? What if it’s Sunday morning at 8 o’clock and you have until Friday afternoon at 5!
129 hours
7,740 seconds…
Just think about what you’re doing today …would you still do it?
The seconds are ticking away.
Would you rather spend that precious time scrolling endlessly through social media, or making memories with those who you love most in this world?
I think this is something we should make the time to think about. If we’re doing something today that we would NOT
do if our time was limited, they why the heck are we doing it in the first place?
And, by the same token, if we are neglecting to do things that we would do if we knew our time was limited--then why aren’t we doing them NOW
?
Because— reality check
—we’re not going to get a 129 hour warning bell.
So okay, we can’t all quit our jobs and stay home to hug our families all day
. We can, however, make the moments we have with our loved ones special. Say “ I love you
” every day to everyone that’s special to you. Don’t let the moment pass! If you need to offer someone forgiveness, then by all means do it now
!
If you need forgiveness, ask for it NOW
! Show your family how much they mean to you today-- because tomorrow is not promised!
That love you give them today might be what helps them in the future.
Don’t just write a bucket list…live your bucket list
!
This life is beautiful…make every moment count! Start living as if you were dying!
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
