FEAR:
a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid. (dictionary.com)
Fear!
Lately, that's all I see, hear, and feel. It's everywhere. It's permeating our society. Everyone is feeling it from the children to the senior citizens. We walk, talk, and breathe fear.
So I know I've written about this before. We've talked fear, we've talked the responses in our body.
Over the past week, I've seen and heard so many things that are fear-based that I think it will serve us all to hear it again.
Let me start by saying that what you believe about the current world situation is your choice. I am not trying to persuade you either way. But there are things we all need to know and understand regardless of our point of view.
Fear controls! Period, end of the conversation
. If you are living in a state of fear, you are being controlled. When you are being controlled by fear, it is manifesting itself in your physical body. Let me explain.
Fear is a necessary human emotion that is designed to protect us from threats. Whether the threat is real or perceived is not important. A reaction to something that scares us will start in an area of the brain called the amygdala. This is the area of the brain that determines what the emotional significance of a stimuli is. So if you see a bear, this area of the brain will release stress hormones and trigger the sympathetic nervous system ( fight or flight
).
Now the adrenal glands are releasing adrenaline into the bloodstream. When this happens we often experience shortness of breath, rapid heart rate, upset stomach, dilation of pupils --- to mention a few possible things.
This is the perfect response to have when a bear is chasing us! It's what our bodies need in order to effectively keep us safe --- keep us alive!
HOWEVER, when we're always in this state because we are being driven by fear, it's like we're always being chased by the elusive bear. Our bodies are always in hyper-prepared mode.
GUESS WHAT HAPPENS....
You do the math. You're not going to sleep. You might have headaches. Your back and shoulders might hurt. You might be constipated. Whatever area of your body is the weakest, is going to feel the result of the hyper preparation your body is in.
It cannot sustain that state for long without impacting the physical body on a permanent basis.
You will become ill --- you may even become ill with that which you fear.
So how do we mitigate fear? There are many things we can do to change our reactions to it. There is no one answer for every single individual. The first step is always knowledge and understanding.
I heard something incredibly powerful this week that I want to share with you. Keep this as your thought process whenever you find yourself in a state of fear.
"Is your fear greater than your faith in God?"
If you are living it a state of fear --- it is!
This week spend some time noticing what you fear, and ask yourself that question. Re-assess for yourself what you're afraid of and if that fear is serving you. Focus yourself on living the life you were given. It is a gift --- we should not be squandering it on fear --- unnecessary fear!
THIS IS NOT SERVING ANY OF US, NOR IS IT SERVING GOD OR OTHERS BY LIVING THIS WAY! We need to reign this in.
Do not let fear control you. Let knowledge be your truth
. Join together with other souls on this journey! In unity we are strong, and we can step out of this place of fear and begin to feel fresh and renewed!
Stay strong, stay united, and share love!
WE, when we stand together, have got this!
“To be afraid is to have more faith in evil than in God.”
