Motivational Monday: How have YOU changed?
(Originally posted on January 20, 2020)

The road of life—it sure is a journey!
We all start at exactly the same place and end at exactly the same place! We all begin with certain tools at our disposal, and end where ever we allow those tools to take us. The parts in-between, however... now that's the interesting part!
What if life were a play and you were the star
?
What if everyone else in your world was a player in your story? What if everything you did and said affected their story as much as everything they did or said affected yours? What if your choice and reaction in each moment influenced how each of you grew? What if we're all tied together and can lift each other up or drag each other down?
These are pretty deep things to think about.
We all start the journey of life as infants, pretty much at the mercy of our parents. We're guided by their beliefs and altered by the relationships we build (or don't build) with them. Some people like to blame their entire lives on the fact that their parents weren't "good" parents; or the opposite: they are everything they are because
of their parents. In actuality, neither is a true statement!
Then we move on to young adulthood when we're spreading our wings and trying new things. Usually at this time of life we are idealistic. We dream and believe that there's a perfect world; that we can have everything and we don't need to sacrifice anything. This is really a great place to be.
Then we're middle-aged before we know it. We're raising families and/or growing our careers. We're having fun, but the stress has kicked in and we're rethinking all those decisions of our youth— wondering if we took the right path! (Oh yeah...now it hits us— there were sacrifices along the way.)
Now our families are grown, we're still worried about them, and we try so hard to guide them away from making the same mistakes we did. The p
roblem is that we can't—nor should we. They are the star of their own play!
And now, we've lived; we've walked the long road and it's time for us to move on.
If we are to look back on our journey, what will we see?
We all started at the same place and end at the same place—but in between all that, life gives us many highs and lows.
Life gave us certain parents
. W
hat wonderful things did we get from that experience?
No matter what type of parents they were—what experience, what knowledge, and what gift
did they give you?
That gift led you to the next part of your journey and gave you the tools you needed to succeed there. And yes,you always succeed; there is no such thing as failure. There is only a choice, a path, and a gift
!
This is the same with every step and phase of your life. How much have you grown and changed from the person you were in your youth? And, if you haven't changed at all, is it possible that you are stuck and not fully using the gifts and the tools that were given to you?
Look at who you have become and be grateful for the players that have helped you get there. If you feel stuck in your life, then it's time to look at all the tools that have been given to you and begin using them to help you move forward. When we start to accept responsibility for our life—recognizing that our life is what it is because we chose it to be so—then, and only then, can we change the outcome!
And, as Glinda the Good Witch in the Wizard of Oz said:
"You've always at the power my dear, you just had to find it out yourself."
Utilize gratitude and empower yourself this week!
Be grateful for everything in your life, especially the obstacles put in your path. Trust the journey and trust that everything is for your greater good—even if you don't understand why at the moment. Know that life and these obstacles are making you stronger and adding to the tools you already have. Use them for good. Do all things in love and gratitude. Gratitude is the strongest possible feeling that will help you get up again!
