Motivational Monday: It is what it is.

Some things cannot be changed!
That's a hard pill to swallow.
There are things in life that just need
to be changed. Don't you agree?
We talked last week about change and how it happens regardless of what we want or feel we need. But then there are other things, places in our lives,
that we want to see change, and for reason unknown to us, they simply will not
change.
There have been many times in my life where something needed changing. I will define a goal and work towards it, but nothing changes. Same story, different day.
Then I begin to wonder what am I doing wrong?
I've asked myself that question many times. Can I go about this differently? Am I missing something?
I came across something this week that really resonated with me. Maybe it's not supposed to change
! Maybe there's something still unfinished! Maybe I need to shift my focus and my energy not into " changing
" but rather into " accepting
" that this is EXACTLY
as it should be.
I think we all know the serenity prayer. (There are different versions, I chose this one)
God, give me grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.
Is it possible that sometimes in life we focus so hard on getting "unstuck", "making a change", "correcting a problem",
whatever it is for us, that we forget that somethings should not
be changed. Maybe --- what we are lacking is the wisdom to know the difference.
How can we gain that wisdom?
I don't know that there is one answer. What I've found that works for me is to define a goal for myself and work towards that goal. If it becomes too difficult and there are too many obstacles in my way, then I need to reassess my goal. Read my wording closely there.
I am not saying to stop pursuing the goal if there is an obstacle, but if the obstacles become overwhelming
, it is possible
that you need to reassess the situation. That's where the wisdom comes in.
This week live one moment at a time. Set a goal for yourself and trust that you will be guided to what is best for you! Trust that you will have the wisdom to see the best path!
This week may you have wisdom --- and may you have the courage to follow it's guidance!
“We don't receive wisdom; we must discover it for ourselves after a journey that no one can take for us or spare us.”
