Motivational Monday: Promote a More Positive Reality!
(Posted on July 6, 2020)

REALITY
: The totality of real things and events.
FAITH:
A firm belief in something of which there is no proof.
Where does reality come from
? Well, likely from things we observe, things we feel, things we've learned, and things we've experienced. Those are real. The Earth is round; our planet circles the sun, etc.
Where does faith come from?
Faith is our belief in things that have no concrete proof behind them. We're taught to have faith and to not question reality.
So, reality is really faith isn't it?
We have faith that what we were taught in school is real. We learned history by studying it in school. We trusted teachers— who learned from their trusted teachers
— who taught us all we needed to know.
Not only did they teach us about history, mathematics, literature, etc., they taught us how to " live life;"
how to create a family, work a career, and function as an adult.
It's all written down in textbooks and carried forward from generation to generation. The basic teachings are the same. (Although they did decide there's a new way to do math --- and those of us older folks still can't figure that one out! 🤣)
But the basics are the same.
We have faith that the realities of everything we're being taught is true.
But WHAT IF none of it is true?
What if
reality as we know it is NOT
what it seems?
I know we're getting crazy here, but humor me. Sometimes we get so caught up in our opinions, or in what we've been taught, that we cannot see anything else around us.
Case in point
: Richard Wiseman is a well known author on "Luck." He wrote about why some people are lucky and why some people are not. When writing his books, he did a few very interesting experiments. (*Note: He had his groups divided into what he called the " Lucky
" and the " Unlucky.")
Experiment 1
: Both groups were given a newspaper. They were asked to look through the paper and count the photographs. The majority of the "unlucky" people took an average of 2 minutes to count the photos, whereas, the "lucky" were finished in just seconds. Why? Because the second page of the newspaper contained the message “Stop counting – there are 43 photographs in this newspaper.”
This message took up half the page and was written in type that was over two inches high. No one should have missed it, yet the "unlucky" were so focused on counting photos that they never saw it.
Experiment 2
: Halfway through the newspaper he placed a second ad. This one said: “Stop counting, tell the experimenter you have seen this and win $250.” Again, unlucky people missed that opportunity because they were busy looking for photographs.
They found that what they considered to be "unlucky" people were typically anxious. When given a task to complete, they became so focused on the task they could see nothing else. They did repeated experiments on this. The book is called "The Luck Factor" by Richard Wiseman. I have not read this, but this material was referenced in something else I was reading.
Is the reality we've been taught and conditioned to believe actually REAL? I'm questioning this simply because of the state of the world we're living in. There is so much negativity out there. Or is there? Or are we being conditioned to see ONLY THAT?
WHAT IF
we choose to look at the other point of view—objectively?
WHAT IF
we stepped out of our truth and take the time to learn about something other than our perceived truth?
WHAT IF
we focused our realities on the good in the world?
WHAT IF
we smiled more? Maybe it might inspire someone else to smile more.
WHAT IF
we weren't living in fear? Maybe we could help others stop living in fear.
WHAT IF
we choose love? Maybe others could also see that love is more powerful than hate.
WHAT ARE WE FOCUSING ON?
Is it stopping us from having the reality we truly want?
What can we do to collectively change our realities?
Question everything.
Shut the news off sometimes and focus on what is right in front of you.
Stop supporting anything that promotes anger, hatred, and inequality.
Smile.
Promote small kindnesses. Hold the door for a stranger.
Look around your world and be part of your world. Focus on what you can actually see.
The only way we can change this current state of reality is together. We need to bond together. We need to stay solid, strong, and with love. Together, we are an unstoppable force. Divided, we are one against another.
THIS IS THE MOMENT WHEN WE CHANGE THE WORLD—TOGETHER!
“Change your conception of yourself and you will automatically change the world in which you live. Do not try to change people; they are only messengers telling you who you are. Revalue yourself and they will confirm the change.”
